(plant) clipping means cutting?

    Note that the caption on the image at the top of the page does indeed use "cuttings."

    Headlines and titles are generally not written by the author and often by people unaware of certain terminology.

    I wonder if the headline writer got confused? A newspaper cutting (BrE) is called a newspaper clipping in AmE. But with plants, I think we all agree a cutting is something you can stick in the ground, intending it to grow, whereas clippings are the small pieces of branch and leaves that you sweep up and throw in the compost or rubbish bin when you trim the plant to make it a neater shape.
