Many years ago I was at school in Northern France for two or three months. Between classes we used to play billes. You could play either on the basis that the winner would take the loser's billes, or just for fun (you kept your billes whatever happened).

I think playing just for fun was referred to as jouer dégonflé, which makes sense.

I just can't remember what the word for playing for keeps was. I believe it began with bé... or bég...

If anyone knows I'd love to be reminded.
