Hi, I'm not sure, but to help I would suggest
"Portes-chars" should be those big trucks transporting military tanks or other armored vehicles.
"Camions grue" are crane trucks or boom trucks.

This probably isn't too useful, but "char" means tank (as in army tanks), and camions are trucks...

J'aurais du preciser que la liste m'est venue du Tahiti. Ils ont peut-etre une terminologie un peu speciale la-bas.

Yes, as it has been said before, un 'camion-grue' is a crane truck.

'Un porte-char' is a heavy-duty truck designed to carry battle-tanks (would you call it a 'battle-tank carrier'?)

:D:D yes, Thierry's girl.....I understand now !! In this part of the world, for "au-revoir" they say "nana"....:) ok, just kidding !

By the way, crane trucks or boom trucks sounds good to me.

Je ne connais pas l'équivalent de "porte-char" en anglais mais avec cette photo, tu sauras mieux que moi !!

    Bye
