Can I get some help with this porfa

Judge refuses to grant the defendant post conviction relief ...

El juez se niega a otorgarle al acusado ... algo posterior a la condena ...

can't get it! I don't find helpful information from other threads on Relief ...

No soy experta en derecho penal norteamericano, pero diría que aquí dice...
El Juez rechaza otorgar al acusado la revisión de su condena....(en España diríamos, según la terminología al uso: el juez desestima la petición de revisión de la sentencia condenatoria formulada por el acusado...)
