Dear all

Let's say you are on the road and there is a pothole you just "stepped on" (I do not know if that sounds proper), how would you express that idea?
Which verb would you use in the case described above?
  • We just stepped on a pothole (As I suggested above)
  • We ran over a pothole
  • We went over a pothole
I'd appreciate any help.

    We (AE) don't step "on" potholes. As with all holes, you might step "into"" one but since potholes are on roads, the scenario seems out of place.

    Out here, we generally "hit" potholes when driving.
