potrzebują pracę

Hello all,

In a polish reading for beginners I came across "potrzebują pracę" and wonder whether that can be correct or if it is an error. I was expecting to read "potrzebują pracy" (genitive).
There isn't much context. The paragraph is about a young man who works in an employment office. He is arriving at the office where there are a number of students waiting :

Janusz przychodzi do urzędu.
Tam jest dużo studentów.
Oni potrzebują pracę.

So, is this a typo/error, or is it in some contexts possible to say potrzebują pracę ? I started by doing an internet search and found a number of examples but, unfortunately, could not decipher them. Can someone help please ?

Many thanks!

Oni potrzebują pracę. :cross: It should be "potrzebują pracy". But "Oni potrzebują znaleźć pracę". This is probably the source of the error.

It is sad that there are courses of Polish with such low quality.

I find the comments, and even the arguments, very helpful. I have been keeping notes on sentences like this that I have encountered and am beginning to see the patterns of usage.
