    It is, yes, but the proposed spurt and spike aren't idiomatic for a medical condition that isn't fever, like arthritis, Crohn's disease or multiple sclerosis. It appears frequently enough that I think flare-up merits a line in the dictionary.

    Sorry, I should have said. I've changed it, but you won't see the changes online until the next time the dictionary is updated (could be a few weeks or a few months...).
