précédé et précédant

I am translating this text from French to English and I'm having a difficult time with this sentence:

"Quel est le précedé et le précédant: le son, le mouvement, l’intention de bouger, les motricités du jeu?"

My rough translation is:

"Which is the before and the precedent: the sound, the movement, the intention to move, the motor skills of the game?"

"Before" and "precedent" sound awkward, especially together in the same sentence. Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.
