PR flaks

What does PR flaks mean?
The pitch was titled ‘Give us three years and we’ll prove it.’ Wilson thought of how it was supposed to go. He would begin by telling the gathered PR flaks and executives that the spill had to be faced directly. It was there; volunteers were still washing oil-coated birds in Dawn detergent; it couldn’t be swept under the rug.

In this scene, James Wilson is on his way to Public Relation audition for a contract work for multinational oil company that had recently caused an and its ecological disaster when one of its undersea wells gushed out near Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The WRF definitions of flak do not seem to be directly relevant. However, I guess it means PR guns (slang for expert). What is your interpretation?

Thank you
