    Hi tcom,
"process effects" include fade outs, fade ins, slow motion, fast motion, dissolves, matte work, i.e. optical effects. It was supplanted by digital compositing in the late 1980s, so...
    ...you`re right. ;)

    I found one more question.
What's the difference between "special effects" and "process effects"?

Well, the difference between them is as follows:
    • special effects:
      [*=1]on-set mechanical effects,
      [*=1]in-camera optical effects (process effects),
    • visual effects:
      • digital post-production (matchmoving, rotoscoping, painting etc.)

Should I predict your another question ("Isn`t a compositing a part of a visual effects?") and answer it straight away? What do you think, tcom? :)
