Hi everybody!

For change, I need your help with Italian. There's a Mr. Cozzi I need to contact by phone and I'm not sure how to pronounce his name. The ZZ is the problematic part. Is it pronounced like 'ts'? It's not the same as 'cosi', right?
Please, help...

  • no, it is more like pizza, but in the italian spelling, the sound is a bit like the english "th" of "those" for instance, but the sound is a bit more hard: sort of the "Ts" of "tsunami" for example...
    definitely "cottsi"...
    is that clear?

Where does "those" sound like "pizza" or "tsunami"?

Anyway, in "così" the s is like in "cozy", Cozzi is definitely like pizza.

    I'm sorry,
the correct pronunciation is "cottsi" or "cotsi"

    bye

    p.s.:
    to silviap
ok, in italian cozzi is like pizza but english speakers pronounces pizza like "pissa"...so how would you explane the correct italian pronunciation?
    I'm a bit in trouble...

Actually, I thought they pronounced it like "piza".

Cozzi should be pronounced like koht tzeeh.

In fact, we don't say piza or pissa. Pizza is one of the few words that is pronounced as it should be. But you should hear us butcher bruschetta! :D
