    More like bee than bit, but it is a dipthong, so it is really ee-er (the second part like ér in Mandarin)

    I speak AE. If I say "ear" quickly it is eer (like bee, not like bit). If I say it slowly it is ee-ur or eey-ur.

    The second syllable sound can be written "er/ur/ir" and is the first vowel in the words "hurt, curtain, Bert, certain, flirt, dirt, fir, fur, her". It does not match pinyin "er", which sounds like the English word "are" or letter name 'R'.
