prop up against

Hi everyone,

In this sentence:"I saw an abandoned auto body shop, its hand-painted sign on the ground, propped up against the gray stucco facade", what is the scene depicted? And what does "prop up against" mean here? How is the sign propped since it is on the ground? Or is it some kind of metaphor?

Thanks a lot!

You can think of "propped up against" here as "leaned against." The bottom of the sign is resting on the ground and is, let's say, a foot away from the wall. The top is angled back to rest against the wall.
