    Ich würde sowas wie "lass dich mit 'etwas' aufmuntern." sagen.

    IMHO, Put a spring in your step , means to be happy, be cheered by something, by doing something (even your step shows you're happy).

    My understanding of it is

    put a spring in s.o.'s step:
    to enliven a person's whole demeanour, make his step more brisk and bouncy; cheer s.o. up such that it shows in the person's movements; [Imperativ] encouragement to s.o. to hurry up, to make haste; [pej.] get a move on!;[vulg.] get your ass in gear!
