Hola a todos:

Here is a sentence in the mail sent from one of the company clients, it goes like " Agradezco el mail que nos ha remitido a la vez que le informo que estamos abiertos a mantener las conversaciones necesarias al objeto de definir la estrategia comercial que pudiera derivar en una alianza comercial orientada a aprovechar, para ambas partes."

I'm wondering if "pudiera" can be replaced by conditional form of "podría" in this sentence.

Muchas gracias de antemano

    Hola Xiahou!

I wouldn't replace 'pudiera' in that sentence as for me it sounds good! 'Pudiera' is in subjunctive, a mode to express desire or probability, in this case the desire to form a business alliance. Whereas 'podría' is in conditional simple form (of indicative mode) and it expresses a condition that given would provoke something.

    For example:

'Estamos abiertos a mantener las conversaciones necesarias para definir una estrategia conjunta que pudiera derivar en una alianza comercial.' --> desire/probability
'En caso de que se llegue a un acuerdo sobre la estrategia comercial podría formarse una alianza comercial.' --> conditional

Hope it helps! Maybe others can give you more details about the grammar!
