Random incoming call

Hello,

Speaking of taking an exam, the student should receive a phone call from the board. The English student would have to speak French.

The English student will receive a random incoming call from the board. I don't know how to use random. Is my sentence well worded?

Thank you.

  • Are you trying to say that each student will be called at an unknown time, that randomly selected students will receive a call, the student will receive a call on a randomly selected topic, ... What does it have to do with taking an exam or speaking French?

Sorry, Random is not appropriate. I meant the student could expect a phone call at any time.
I mean for example the student is taking a speaking and a writing exam. The exam takes 4 hours. 3 hours in writing and an hour in speaking. During the speaking exam ( French and English speaking exam) The board won't give a specific time for the french speaking exam phone call. They will call the student at an unknown time if I may say but I don't the proper word in this instance.

[At some time in the coming weeks] the English student will receive an unannounced telephone call from the board and be expected to converse with an examiner in French.

Can you be clear. Presumably the call won't be at 3am. What if the student is in the bathroom or in the middle of a doctor appointment? What if the student is in the middle of a different, written exam?

Please can you be more specific about exactly what the intention is?
