I need to translate the term "Rank of mind". It is the title of a paragraph in a document related to surveys. The sentence placed just after is :"Which supplier/brands of software are known to you?"
What does that mean?
This one is new to me. A Google search of it yields only a few results, none of which appear to help. Several 19th-century authors use "rank of mind" (Carlyle, Stevenson, and Nietzsche, in translation of course) to refer to the sort of "aristocracy of talent" that excited people in the 19th century so much.
But that clearly isn't what your author means, unless he is trying to gauge your intelligence by the number of software brands you can name...
