read books as many as possible vs read as many books as possible

I have been told these two sentences are both correct.

S1 You should read as many books as you can.
S2 You should read books as many as you can.

But according to dictionaries or other reference books, S2 doesn't sound like a correct one. I want to know if S2 is a standard use.

  • Not written like that. But if you add a pause, it's OK. There are several ways:

    You should read books - as many as you can.
    You should read books... as many as you can.
    You should read books (as many as you can)...
     
    It's not, but that's surprising. Complex comparisons of adjectives usually do have the possibility of all coming after the noun, including some with 'as':

    a book as long as War and Peace
    a book longer than War and Peace
    a book long enough to last all week

    Some of them can also divide into parts before and after the noun:

    a long enough book to last all week

    But in your example, this (S1) is the only possibility.
