    Hello everyone,

Can we reduce this sentence like this?

The person who was cruely killed is his best friend

TO: The person cruely killed is his best friend.

Thanks so much for your kind help!

You can but the first sounds better.

    "Cruelly" has two lls.

I know generally, single participles should be put before nouns, phrases should be put after nouns.

But could you please explain why you prefer the first one? We should treat the second one as a participle phrase? The second one is normal?

    Thanks so much!

You're welcome. The first just sounds more natural. Hopefully someone else who agrees with me will give you a better explanation.

By the way, it should be "was his best friend".
