Question: I think referee can be translated in Italian as "referenza", but what is the meaning of "referee's status"?

Dovrebbe essere la persona che "garantisce" per te. Status vuol dire quello di cui si occupa, es.:

Referee: Dr. Dan Smith
Status: Medical Practitioner at.....

Difficult to tell just from these words but it could mean the basis on which they are able to provide a reference: for example as employer, teacher, friend etc. If you have a bit more information on the form (what other questions are there about the referee for example?) it might be easier to know what the meaning is.
