Hi there, I am having a few problems with this, regain yourself/ recover yourself. Let's look at an example. Say all of a sudden you have a cramp: is it correct to say something like "it took him a while to regain yourself/recover himself". What's the correct way to say that it took him a little way to get better?
thanks

"recover" is okay, but it's not reflexive.

It took him a (little) while to recover.

"regain" does not work, in my opinion.
