Hi,

If someone did not progress, is it ok to use regress? For example, "we don't know why he regressed in this course" Is there another word to use?

    You can't use "regress" for "not progress", since to regress means to go backwards, while to not progress means to simply not go forward.

    You could say "We don't know why he isn't making/didn't make progress."
