Remediation isn't a term I have come across this side of the pond. Remediation for me is a term used to describe decontaminating the enviroment. Old industrial sites - gas works or chemical plants often end up full of nasty chemicals which need to be taken out of the soil before it can be used for building.
If you come up with an action plan to address issues, for example in a failing business, we might talk about an action plan or a recovery plan.
In the financial word, haven't you heard the term "Remediation Plan"?
From Google:
Develop Early Remediation Plan. Consultants develop an early
remediation matrix for the identified processes. The team then prioritizes
and implements the agreed-upon remediation.
Identify and Implement Remediation, Then Re-test. Regardless of the
severity, the integrated project team recommends actions to close the gaps
and pass the tests. This remediation plan prioritizes the agreed upon
remediation. The integrated project helps implement the remediation
suggestions. Finally, the remediated processes have to be tested.
