Reported speech

Hello everyone!
Wish you all a very happy Christmas!

Now comes the question:

How to write the following sentence in reported speech?

Sourav: I had graduated in 2011.

Sourav told me that he ____ graduated in 2011.

I know that past tense usually changes to past perfect in reported speech. However, I am not sure what past perfect changes into.

May I have some clarification?

Thanks in anticipation.

    Hello rahaan. :)

I wish you a Merry Christmas, too.

The past perfect in the original statement would (usually) be the past perfect in reported speech.

However, to be sure, we need more context -- such as the sentence before this one -- to show why the original statement was in the past perfect.

    Thanks Cagey. :)

Actually there is no context as such. It's a randomly constructed sentence as I wanted to know what past perfect changes into when it comes to reported speech.

The past perfect in the original statement would (usually) be the past perfect in reported speech.
You said usually. Can you cite an example where it is not the case?
