I'm trying to translate the following phrase and was wondering if there is a distinction between "retrete" and "inodoro." They normally seem to be interchangeably used to mean toilet, but in this case they seem to have distinct meanings.
Here is the sentence fragment:
El invento del inodoro – el aparato de retrete que por medio de un sifón impide el paso de los malos olores....
Please help! Much thanks
