Is there a difference between these two professions? I have to translate them but the dictionary gives me the same word "netturbino"

Penso che gli uni siano gli spazzini (che effettivamente spazzano le strade, anche se con una macchina) gli altri invece quelli che raccolgono la spazzatura. Aspetta conferma dai nativi ovviamente!

As indicated by Sicanius, there may be a difference.

"Dustmen" seems to me to be VERY BE, and based on their dictionary definition,
we'd call them "Garbage men" or "Sanitation Engineers")) in AE.

"Road sweepers" also seems a bit BE, and probably like our "Street sweepers" who drive around in big things like this.

Let's wait for the BE experts.

Itermini spazzino e/o netturbino adesso sono stati sostituiti da operatore ecologico.

Grazie a entrambi. La parte che devo tradurre si riferisce agli anni settanta, quando evidentemente gli sweepers spazzavano, come ha sottolineato Sicanius, mentre l'altra figura raccoglieva l'immondizia. Ora le figure sono state convogliate nell'operatore ecologico. Penso che metterò semplicemente "i netturbini" e mi tolgo d'impiccio...
