Roast lamb

New Member
Hello, How do you say "Roast lamb" in French? I looked up roast beef, and it's "rosbif" and I looked up lamb, which is "agneau", so is it something like "ros agneau"? Thanks in advance

Does agneau refer to the meat of a sheep? I thought agneau meant lamb as in a young sheep that gambols in the fields.

EDIT: I stand corrected by my dictionary.

agneau is the meat of a youg animal
mouton is the meat of an adult (there's a legal distinction in France)
French uses the same word for the meat and the animal
(although "cochon" refers to the meat only in familiar speech)
