Bonjour,

Dove and pigeon are both of the familyColumbidae and most people mix them up except for the white dove of peace and the street pigeon (Trafalgar Square) and the Lovey Dovey - no idea what that is!!! There is also a wood pigeon - bigger and very colourful (in New Zealand).

NO refererence to a roller pigeon in my books ???? Americano, possibilamente???

It happened in Brighton when a tourist eating a sandwich on a big wheel was attacked by a seagull looking for food = a roller seagull. ????

My apologies: the Birmingham roller pigeon is specially bred to do somersaults - hence roller. Other varieties of roller are named after where they were bred. Also roller dove.
