Franklin/Theodore Roosevelt were both significant presidents in U.S. history, both having a family tree that was traced back to the first Dutch immigrants in the New Amsterdam area of modern-day New York. I've always been curios about what their last name meant in Dutch, my guess is Rosy Field. (I thought "velt" was Afrikaans/Dutch for plains or a prarie)
Thanks in advance :)

I don't know if Roosevelt has a meaning, but if it were spelled rozenveld, it would mean rose field.
