Good evening All,

Today my boss, during a conference call, has adopted the expression "round it off " on a new strategy that we would to improve before summer.
I checked it out on the WR vocabulary but I didn't find what I was looking for, actually I just found "terminare o rifinire" so my doubt doesen't disappeared. Could it be "limiamo la stretagia prima di farla partire? o terminiamo questa parte prima di dedicarci alla fase successiva?"

Any suggestion would be good
Thanks in advance

  • Hi,
Is your boss a native English speaker?
It sounds like it might be BE.

It could mean "finire" or "raffinare" depending on the exact context.

    Hi Tim,
He is a dutch native, actually I'm working in The Netharlands, but he spent two years in London :)
So, are you thinking to "Raffinare or definire" before intruducing it to our Board Management for instance? Should it means "to adjust" as well?
Thank you indeed, now it sounds clear and acceptable in my view

Without hearing the entire phrase, it would be impossibile to be accurate.
    But my guess would be:
    ...finish the project.
...refine the project. (make final adjustments before it's finished)

Hello, I found this expression in a movie, could it be possible it meant: "arrotondare" (nel senso, arrotondare per eccesso o per difetto) ?

This is the part where i found it:

There are 1,784 pages, and it takes me four minutes to read one page. 1,784 pages times four minutes a page is 7,136 minutes, which equals 118.9333 hours, which comes to 4.955 days. But you can round it off to five days without sleeping.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

    Hi,

    "arrotondare":thumbsup:

But you can round it up to five days without sleeping.

We always round the number up to the nearest dollar - so $4.85 will become $5.00.
We always round your weight down to the nearest pound - so 123.4 pounds will become 123 pounds.
We always round your time off to the nearest second - so 9.7 seconds becomes 10 seconds.

    A bad try:
Ma si puo' arrotondarlo a cinque giorni senza la possibilita' di dormire.
Ma si puo' approssimarlo al numero piu' vicino, quindi sarebbe cinque giorni...
    ???????????????
