"I'd rather run a mile in tight shoes than do that."
Are there any literal translations or similar phrases in French I wonder?

That's slightly drastic haha. I'd rather run a mile in tight shoes than eat a rat

Alas, I like to be precise in my wording, so dying doesn't really work. And as it happens I wouldn't totally rule out becoming a nun, so that wouldn't be very effective either. Any other ideas? :p

Dans ce cas, pourquoi pas une traduction littérale? Ce n'est pas une expression usuelle en français mais tout le monde la comprendra, et c'est le genre de situation où un auteur se permet d'inventer des expressions.

I'm digging up this post because I just came across this phrase in a short story I'm translating. While I have no literal translations to provide, I thought that "il faudrait me payer très cher pour..." was idiomatic enough and worked well, at least in my context :)

    Hope this helps!
