A ver si me podéis ayudar con "run the light", o sea, no respetar los semáforos.

ejemplos:

He got a ticket for running a red light
He ran the light and nearly hit a pedestrian.

Gracias a todos. Pensé que esta frase era una frase legal, pero de verdad, es una frase con consequencias legales, pero no con terminos legales.

Yo diría "comerse la luz roja".

    Opinions por favor

    Maybe this is too informal?

Does it exist is real speech? I believe I really did hear it like this somewhere!

It is not too informal, it is just a colloquial way of saying it. And yes, I would say it with the same words: me comí una luz roja y casi me mato; me comí un ceda el paso; me comí una cebra y casi atropello a una señora.

Como ves, no soy muy buen conductor. Saludos

    Se pasó la luz roja

This is what my mom from Mexico told me. She didn't like the "comerse la luz" one, but I did confirm it in an interpreter dictionary--interpreter's companion, Holly Mikkelson
