Can you clarify me what does the red part at the following sentence means, please?

    Mavericks is the name of a famous surfing location in California. Some previous releases of Apple's OS used the names of various cats - Tiger, Panther, Jaguar, Mountain Lion etc. Now, perhaps the next series will be named after surfing locations - as long as there are enough for the future updates of the OS. It's a weak joke :(
