You see, the point is that I wasn't sure about whether you can say the salary difference in English. Sometimes there are expressions that even though they exist in English, nobody uses then in colloquial speech. For example I would use Something affects Y, rather than Something has repercussions on Y, because I find the first expression more likely to be used in spoken English.
Of course, depending on the context, one will be more appropriate than the other.
If both expressions can be used, that's enough for me. Cheers!!
