Slides used to be dangerous.
After climbing up those sandy, metal crosstrax steps, you got to the top and stared down at that steep ride below.

What is the meaning of "sandy, metal crosstrax steps"?
It's from "The Book of Awesome".

    I've never seen the word "crosstrax" before. Steps are sometimes made from metal in a grid pattern with holes and it may be this is the meaning. Why they should be "sandy" as well I do not know. It is possible that the slide was on sandy ground and that children's feet had transferred some onto the steps.
