    My suggestion is as follows:

    "scarsa conoscenza del processo di accelerazione" = "poor knowledge of acceleration process".

    "Dimmed" is wrong, the word means "attenuato" referred to the "lights" or "offuscato" in connection with "eyes".

    "Comprehension" = "comprensione, capacità d’intendere", it is not suitable for your context.

    They are all correct, you can use limited or poor but if you want to be fussy finding the same word from Italian to English, you may say: a scarce knowledge of the acceleration process.
