I would like to ask if it is possible to translate the following Italian sentence
"scarsa conoscenza del processo di accelerazione"
as
"dimmed comprehension of the acceleration process"

The context is an official literature review for physicists/engineers.

Per "scarsa conoscenza" credo sarebbe meglio "limited knowledge".

"scarsa conoscenza del processo di accelerazione" = "poor knowledge of acceleration process".

"Dimmed" is wrong, the word means "attenuato" referred to the "lights" or "offuscato" in connection with "eyes".

"Comprehension" = "comprensione, capacità d’intendere", it is not suitable for your context.

Thanks! I'm going to use "poor knowledge"...unfortunately is not "limited": it tends to zero !!

They are all correct, you can use limited or poor but if you want to be fussy finding the same word from Italian to English, you may say: a scarce knowledge of the acceleration process.
