    Scat singing is a style of very rapid singing of sounds, rather than words, in Jazz. Try a Google search for Scatman Carruthers... he was a master of this style. There may be other meanings as well, but this one, thanks to your question, brought back good memories of listening to scat singers in jazz clubs.
