Scottish: Catanauch or Catnauch

Any Scots out there can help me with the above, It was my Fathers middle name which we never found out until his death, not sure of the spelling, need to know correct spelling and meaning if possible, my grandparents were born in Scotland, hence the name.

    According to the "Collins Scottish Clan & Family Encyclopedia" the Macpherson clan used Cattanach as a first-name.
    Source. Perhaps with this spelling you may have more luck finding info on-line.


    The closest (I can think of ) in Irish is Cárthach (meaning loving), but unrelated to your Father's middle name.
