I'm not sure how to translate "This summer, I am going to learn how to scuba dive." In the other scuba threads it seems as if plongée implies the whole act of scuba diving. How deep do you have to be diving to include the "-sous marine" part?

Cet été, j'apprendrai faire de la plongée.

    Yeah, "plongée" is scuba.
    "Plongée en apné" would be without the equipment, just holding your breath, for example.
    Plongée is therefore more generic, plongée sous-marine includes the equipment, but it's not necessarily that deep - you can do "plongée sous-marine" at 10 meters...
