Hola, ¿alguien puede decirme cómo traducir "segundo de a bordo" en la oración?:
"Le han ofrecido el cargo de segundo de a bordo del director general". Muchas gracias.

Maybe "second in charge to the General Director" or just sub-director.

As far as I know second mate is a nautical term not a business term, second in charge to the Captain, after the first mate.

    The CEO's/director's/president's number two.
    The CEO's right hand.
    The CEO's (first) deputy.
    Deputy CEO/director.
    Más generalmente, second in command.

As far as I know segundo de a bordo is a nautical term, used in business metaphorically.

On a ship the segundo de a bordo, después del capitán (ej., captain Kirk) is the first mate (ej. Mr Spock).
Como explica el vínculo de cocuyo:
The second mate is the third in command.
