Hello,

how would you translate "semifoderato"? The context is quite easy, we are talking of jackets and coats and they can be lined, unlined or ...

"Half-lined"?

Thanks for your help,

h.

    Bella domanda P.

"Semifoderato" si riferisce a un abito, a una giacca o un soprabito foderato solo in alcune parti, non in tutte. Ma è un termine che esiste solo nel gergo della moda; in italiano esistono, sempre riferiti alla moda, solo i termini 'foderato' e 'sfoderato', che io sappia.

Guarda qui http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_italian/textiles_clothing_fashion/2008919-half_lined.html "English term or phrase: half-lined Italian translation: mezza fodera, semi foderato" e qui http://www.permanentstyle.co.uk/2010/05/half-lined-and-unlined-jackets.html#.U2FYgaJpcrA "An image-heavy post this week, to illustrate options for summer jackets. In particular, those half-lined and unlined. An unlined jacket is a nice way to create greater ventilation in hotter temperatures. The major disadvantage is that the jacket is more likely to rumple and catch on your shirt underneath. ... A half-lined jacket restricts that problem to your back, which is less noticeable. And the back is where most men need the ventilation, as the shirt and jacket are so consistently pressed together".
