Set an alarm clock

I set my alarm clock for 7 am.

An alarm clock is a clock, after all. "I set my alarm clock to 7 am" means that I set the time on the clock to 7 am, and does not talk about the alarm.

If an alarm clock is to function, the clock must be set to the correct time, and the alarm must be set for the time you want to wake up.

Here is how I see it:

    A. I set my alarm clock to 7 am == I set the time that my clock shows to 7am.

    B. I set the alarm for 7am == My alarm will ring at 7am

    C. I set my alarm clock for 7 am == Probably the same as B

My suggestion is to use B.
