Of these 2 sentences which one is correct?
1. She was sitting on the sofa and reading a book
2. She was sitting on the sofa and she was reading a book

    That is OK, Azarosa.
Of the 2 sentences above I know the second is OK and the first is not, but I don't know why.

There is nothing wrong with the first sentence. Why do you think it is incorrect?

    Thank you.
It's only that it doesn't sound fine to me.
If anybody has a grammar explanation, I'd appreciate it

    Hi,

The auxiliary verb is the same for both sentences. This is possible with sentences coordinated by and was sitting..., and (she was) reading...
