She's a good actress/actor.

As far as I know, the word "actor" refers to both men and women. At least that's what dictionaries say. But if I want to say a simple sentence like this: "I like her a lot because she's a good actress/actor.", which word should I choose? Somehow the word "actor", when I'm talking about a woman, sounds a bit strange... What do you think?

It sounds strange to me as well, but that seems to be the trend these days in the U.S.

I suggest you go with your preference, at least until somebody complains. :)
