What does shift out mean in this sentence?

"Increased production will shift the supply curve out"

What shape will the curve get?

Thank you

You need to consult an economist, not a linguist. This is a technical term, but not a standard one in ordinary mathematics. It's not clear to me (a mathematician as well as a linguist) whether the curve moves along the x-axis while keeping exactly the same shape; or whether its shape (curvature) changes; or both.
