Hi everyone, this is a line in 'Friends'.

Monica : You shouldn't even be here, it's a school night.
Oh god, oh god. I'm like those women that you see with shiny guys named Chad. I'm Joan Collins.
Young Ethan : Who?

I can't understant the part 'shiny guys named Chad'. Chad is a real person's name? or slang?

"Chad" is a person's name. Most people named "Chad" are either WASPy types or guys who like to butch up their appearance. Also, according to wikipedia:
Chad first entered the top 1000 names for male children in the United States in 1945, when it was the 997th most popular name. Its popularity peaked in 1972 and 1973, at number 25
Since Friends aired in the 90's, I assume "Chad" could be a name associated with young people of around 22-26.

The guys named Chad are "shiny" because they have oiled themselves to show off their muscles.

I dunno, I thought Joan Collins was seen in the vicinity of some pretty reflective guys... (but it's not very important, all in all.)

I just remembered, Lucas, that I've actually seen this particular episode of Friends, and Young Ethan, while a cute guy, isn't really a Joan Collins-esque piece of beefcake (slang for a really brainless, muscle-bound guy, KJY2). He's mostly just young, a bit too young for Monica. So I think Monica is comparing herself to older women who are always being escorted places by hot young guys. Oiled muscles aren't required. ;)

I bow to your interpretation, Kate.

Of course, if he's really young, then he might have a "shiny" face due to adolescent oily skin. But I agree with your reading of the sentence, and it's obvious that Monica is engaging in hyperbole.

^ Some of the regulars here are knowlegeable about medicine, some are experts in parsing sentences. Me, I know about Friends. Oh, well.

I just remembered one other thing: Young Ethan is so young that he doesn't get the Joan Collins reference - he doesn't know who she is. That's why he answers "Who?"
