Shock and Awe

Hello everybody!!
Could anybody, please, help me to translate this expression into Spanish?

Context: This guy hates Christmas, and ease the pain of it by buying expensive presents.

"This present-giving technique was akin to the military tactic of Shock and Awe; small presents lavishly packaged from luxury stores that would blow away any possible competition from rivals in the family."

Any ideas??

Son ataques con gran alarde de fuerza y, generalmente por sorpresa.


Algo así como ataques desproporcionados y por sorpresa.

Estoy de acuerdo con 'Romarsan' también encontré esto:

En términos militares, el plan se conoce como "Shock And Awe" (algo así como "Horrorizar y Sobrecoger" o "Aterrar y Espantar").
