What does "dragged" mean? This is about football or soccer.

Mason wriggles away
from Cameron but his shot
from 20 yards is dragged
wide.

    Yes, that's my understanding too. I assume Mason was attempting to shoot a goal, but the ball looked as if it was dragged or pulled wide off the goal.

    To me, it means that Mason shot, intending to score, but his his shot was inaccurate; it went wide. The agent of "is dragged wide" is the poor contact that Mason made with the ball, not some other player.

    He dragged it wide.
    He pulled it wide.

    Of course, with no intention.
