should be pronounced <as>

Hi,

I was going over some sentences in my notebook. And here it is:

It should be pronounced _____.

Context: This one was said by someone who tried to correct the pronunciation of a word.

I notice that in our forum, native speakers use "It should be pronounced _____".

I wonder if it's also okay as:

It should be pronounced as _____.

It would be understood, but better without 'as'. It doesn't add anything in terms of meaning, and is longer to say/write.
