1)Suddenly someone gave a loud shout and pointed to something in the water.

2)Suddenly someone shouted loudly and pointed to something in the water.

is the difference between sentence 1 and sentence 2 just style difference?

Sentence 1 talks about a single loud shout - at most 3 syllables, maybe just 1 syllable.

Sentence 2 says "shouted loudly", which could be either a single shout or a much longer shouted speech. The sentence doesn't say.

In the context ("someone shouted and pointed"), sentence 2 probably means a single shout. But it might not.
